minutes.......of a red rag meeting........held Sunday march 16th..... ....at 7 christchurch gardens......presented with apologies for all the ..........weeks........about eight people were there Money: general discussion prompted by the changeover of treasurers and the usual crisis. Standing orders bring in getting on for half what we need (£60-odd per month), but all other forms of income are erratic. Currently we rely on regular benefits (which raise anything from £20 to £100). Not felt to be altogether healthy. Even if people keep wanting to organise them there's a limit to the number possible in Reading and there are other causes. Decided we should keep a spare collecting tin in Acorn so people can collect freelance at gigs, meetings, or the reading festival fringe. Knocking on doors the rag is delivered to can be productive - and checks that the rag is still wanted there. We should try to get more paid ads. Pates are still £7 a quarter page, £12 a half: when we have more advertisers perhaps they sh'd go up. Also: if no money, the rag must be kept short! Treasurer: the new treasurer is Maryon. New list of signatories made as most of the old one live in Cambs or Lincs... Co-ordinators: 22 March: James (Sun: Maryon) 5 April: Paul Holland (Sun:?) 19 April: ?Paul Hartley (Sun: Ian) 3 May (Friday nb): Mark (Sun: Simon, Wargrave 2788) 17 May: Clive (Sun:?) Events: felt to be a bit thin. Paul who does them was phoned: he still wants to do them. The diary left in Acorn doesn't seem to be working. More contact with all the various Reading groups felt to be a good idea (which means phoning the., as they're all too untogether to phone us or even send us their programmes apparently). Paul has problems with time but will try to get events done in time so they can be typed. Red Rag tape: we don't know what the situation is. Guy has vanished, leaving no instructions! We have no record of who used to get the tape. (Please to contact Paul Hartley.) May Day: is on sat 3 May. In the past we've always had a free stall in exchange for publicity - needs checking. Maybe produce up to 2,000 copies. Help needed. Badges? T-shirts? Outlets: ICL club sh'd Not be on published list. Distributors sh'd try to check "did they all go?", and let Pogle know if too many or too few go to their outlets. Format: A3 pages of the then current issue admired. (We can't use A2 paper as Acorn's press can't do it). Saves space, looks good, makes folding easier. Needs planning however, so you don't a) end up with six different column widths and b) an odd number of pages. But maybe a little planning is no bad thing? Notes for co-ordinators: a good idea! Mark and James might get some ideas together. It's about three years since first suggested... Next meeting: Sunday April 27th at 39, Coventry Road, at 5 pm. To sort out among other things what we're going to do on May Day. James -- $Id: //info.ravenbrook.com/user/ndl/readings-only-newspaper/minutes/1986/1986-03-16.txt#1 $
