RED RAG COLLECTIVE MEETING 4:30pm. 24/2/85 at 117 Kendrick Road Present: Liz H., Liz S., Mark, James, Ian Distribution A new distributor is urgently needed for the town centre. Computer Labelling The computer is still broken, making mailing difficult. Although other people might have access to computers at work etc, such an uncertain dependence could create real organisational problems. Guy, who does distribution, is in favour of using photocopied label sheets; they cost about the same to produce (lp/label) and can be done anywhere, with little extra work involved. Everyone present agreed to this. New Events Person Someone is needed to replace Marcus, who is only prepared to do one or two issues (for the moment). This job needs a lot of commitment to be done properly; Mark R. (Going Out) would do it as a stopgap if absolutely necessary but would prefer someone else to. Next Issues 2nd March: James & Laura. 16th March: Co-ordinator Mark R. (phone 782178). Paste up at 117 Kendrick Rd. Folding at Acorn 30th March: Co-ordinator James (phone 595605). 16th April: Someone needed; your chance to save the day. Money Money is very tight, espicially as the last 2 Rags were 14 pages, cheques, standing orders and £35 from Clive/James/Paul Cousins may leave us penniless rather than in debt. Fill in your stnding order forms now! A Right Read Re: the insulting, unpublished letter to the Rag from Mr. Morley of St. Georges Hall. Liz Swain wrote a personal lettter to him setting out the background to what Red Rag is: she hasn't received a reply yet. Black Rag? The West Indian community in Reading want their own magazine. Red Rag will gladly offer advice on distribution, paste up etc, but the best way to learn is to come along and do it! This could maybe lead up to one issue being I.S.W.E.'s responsiblity it was suggested, as a stepping stone to launching their own magazine/newspaper. Mark R. will pass this onto ISWE (who made the approach) and suggest they write something for the Rag. Next Collective Meeting Sunday March 24th, Flat 6, 107 Castle Hill at 4pm. Thanks to Liz H. for tea, coffee, bikkies, stale bombay mix and for having us! Mark. - - - $Id: //info.ravenbrook.com/user/ndl/readings-only-newspaper/minutes/1985/1985-02-24.txt#3 $
