It will be better and bigger than last year. Reading Between the Lines 2; coming together slowly. Need people to look through stuff that's already done - before it's typed - to check it's OK/complete. Ethnic; community groups and residents assocs still poor. Also introductory bit about town and different areas. Help would be appreciated. Typists needed Ready for printing by Tues 25th. Collate a few for Bulmershe Freshers on Fri 28th. Main collating on Sun 30th along with the Rag. There will be some paid advertising to raise money (£15 1/2-page, £7:50 1/4-page). There will be a max. of 4 pages for ads. Print run will be 1000 to start with, and the cost will probably be around £200. James intends to open a separate bank account so money is separate from Rag. RBL2 can be financed by loans initially, and will be paid back with income from sales, half the money will be raised by the ads. Rag prepared to lend RBL2 up to £75. Rag to have an ad. Distribution: Guy now doing it. 669562 is his number for front page - message from Guy - "I have recently taken over responsibility for distribution. I have moved some addresses around to make the groups more compact, so you may find you have two or three more or fewer on your round. If now or at any time your group is too big or covers too wide an area, please tell me (ring 669562) or leave a message at Acorn. Also please contact me if you can't do your round on any particular issue." Posties: Lesley P retired - thanks Lesley for all your work - Paul has taken over & has written to posties asking for post money and saying we may have to discontinue,. 4 replies brought in £39:5. Some changing to quarterly. Still free to prisons, other similar publications and those in need. Role of Co-ordinators: to make sure Rag gets done - which is as much typing, paste-up etc. as they want. About getting people to do things and preparing space, materials, transport etc. SOS List: to include list of who has pritt etc. Could be divided into who can distribute, who can do typing, who has a car etc. Sue volunteered to do it in Oct. Going Out Guide: thought of as complete unit, if wanted in a particular style, or to a certain length, coordinator should let compiler know and not change it all after. This applies to all pasted up pages submitted. Graphics to be considered as copy. Changes not to be made to graphics either unless originator contacted. Newsteams: Dave clarified what he meant by original article - not a high powered team - but to suggest people send info, to be written up by someone else if originator doesn't want to write it themself. News numbers on front page are for this anyway. Should we have a debate in the Rag to stimulate more articles, research etc. Encourage people to use pseudonyms if they don't want to use real names, and explain again how production happens. Use your Rag. Outlets: huge areas of Reading where Rag isn't available, nowhere North of Thames etc. More outlets should make more responses. 5th. Rag Anniversary; end of October. Party proposed. Fairview? £2:75 an hour. James planning to write a history of Rag for people in other towns and interesting for those who weren't around 5 years ago. Two colour cover agreed on for anniv. issue. Events person: we're still looking for someone for 29th. Sept issue and after. Sorry for messy typing Bridge xxxx --- $Id: //info.ravenbrook.com/user/ndl/readings-only-newspaper/minutes/1984/1984-09-09.txt#1 $
